How-to: Reduce Bloating

We all have those days when our stomach is looking just a bit bigger than we want it to. Some people just assume that it is fat. Well it actually might just be from bloating! Here are my tips on how to reduce your bloating.

1. Don’t eat too quickly!! Eating too fast can cause air bubbles in your stomach that can lead to bloating. Eating too quickly can also lead to overeating which obviously is not good for your body. To avoid overeating try eating on a smaller plate. It will trick your brain into thinking you are eating more than you are.

2. Stay away from the carbonated drinks. Drinks such as soda, or carbonated water can cause gas bubbles to get trapped in your belly. The sugar isn’t good for you anyways and dark sodas stain your teeth. Instead try a fruit smoothie or peppermint tea that can help reduce bloating.

3. Limit your sodium intake. Things such as chips, ramen, pickles, or anything with a large amount of sodium can add to that bloated feeling. Try to eat a Cliff bar or Fiber One bar instead.

4. Don’t over do it with the bread. You know those annoying girls that are like “oh my gosh I can’t eat carbs. They make you fat.” Well they may be annoying but they’re not wrong. Although not all carbs can make you fat. Complex carbs are a good thing to have in your diet. Try eating some brown rice.

5. Finally, exercise. I think it is pretty obvious why exercise is a good idea. Personally I love going to my local fitness center for a Zumba dance class. They are fun but also gets you moving!

Foods that help with bloating:
Studies have shown that foods with probiotics help reduce bloating. Such as peppermint tea, ginger, pineapple, parsley, and probiotic yogurts.

A healthy smoothie that will help you slim down:
Ingredients

1 cup raw spinach
1 cup frozen peaches
1 cup frozen pineapples
1 teaspoon organic flax seed
1 teaspoon dried coconut flakes
1 cup almond milk
1 teaspoon of your favorite protein powder
½ banana

Instructions:
-start off by putting the spinach, and all the fruit into your blender.
– add the flax seed, protein powder, and almond milk.
-BLEND! Blend until smooth or your desired consistency.
-pour into your glass and sprinkle with coconut shavings.

Back-To-School Must Haves

It’s that time of year again!!! Back to school… I don’t know about you guys, but I hate going back to school! There is so much stress about seeing people again that you haven’t seen all summer. But to help you all out, I’ve come up with a list of items that will make your school year a bit better!!

FACE:

Feeling insecure about your skin is never fun! My number one recommendation for an acne face wash is by the brand Acne Free. It is a gentle face wash that has small exfoliating beads to help clean out your pores!

Have you ever had an annoying pimple show up just days before a big dance or date? Well I have just the solution. The Lush Grease Lightning spot treatment works wonders! It has thyme, tea tree, and rosemary that helps clean out those tough zits.

Around this time of year the weather seems to get a bit colder and dryer…so to keep your skin hydrated and healthy I would recommend the Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Day Lotion. It also has some anti-aging factors which is a plus!

MAKEUP:

When it comes to getting ready for school, makeup has always gotten me out of bed in the morning. These are my go to everyday items!

I LOVE the Covergirl Clean Water Based Foundation. The fact that it is water based makes it very light on skin and doesn’t feel like it is clogging the pores. It comes in different formulations so you can find the right one for your skin! I personally use the Sensitive skin foundation in number 245.

After my foundation I like to move onto cheeks. If I can, I like to use a product that can work as both a bronzer and blush. The Milani Baked Bronzer works wonders! I recommend applying with an angled brush to your temples, hollows of cheeks, and jaw line.

To set my foundation and make sure that it will stay put throughout the day, I like to use the Rimmel Stay Matte powder. For you girls with oily skin, this will be your best friend.

Somedays I’m too lazy to do all my makeup but I MUST have on my eyeliner! Personally I like liquid eyeliners. At first it took a while to get the hang of, but the Milani Eye Tech Extreme liner is super easy to work with and gives a very slick line that stays on all day.

My favorite thing to play around with in fall is lip colors! There are so many different options! But for any everyday choice I always go to my Maybelline 14 Hour Stay lip stain. (fun fact: Ariana Grande uses the color Fuchsia Forever.) I prefer the shade Enduring Ruby.

Along with lip color, make sure you keep your lips hydrated because nothing is more annoying than dry flaky lips! The EOS lip balms are my personal favorites.

FASHION:

My last couple of items are just a few fashion items that I think are a MUST for this coming year.

First off, big watches are really in! I love the gold ones. Either by Michael Kors or Coach. But the one I am currently obsessed is actually a men’s watch. It is the Nixon 51-30.

On those lazy days when you really don’t feel like going through the trouble to come up with a super cute outfit I always fall back on a good old flannel. Urban Outfitters has some great ones, but Old Navy does too!

Finally, last but certainly not least are black boots! I have been obsessed with these. I have probably bought about 3 pairs in the past month! I think they can go with almost anything and they are so comfy and perfect for fall.
